Andrea and Chris have been patiently waiting to see the photos from their engagement session, shot the week before the Three Rivers Festival (was there with the rest of the I Du team). Here are some favorites:

Britian’s Jeff Ascough is perhaps my favorite contemporary wedding photographer, because he does such a wonderful job of bringing the aesthetic and tradition of classic photojournalism to the wedding event without compromising either. His response in praise of a recent British TV program featuring the work and words of Helmut Newton strikes a chord:
I am most often moved by images that say more about the subject and the moment than they do about the photographer and his or her technique. Don’t get me wrong, technique needs to be a given (even in this day of auto-everything cameras), but after employing all the cool ways to make creative images at wedding, it would be a shame if you learned more about photography (and Photoshop!) by looking through a wedding album than you did about the bride and groom and their wedding. A photographer is a messenger, but it is the message that is important. Thank you, Mr. Ascough, for the reminder! Read Jeff’s blog post here. NEWS — I’ve decided to split my site into two blogs: this location will remain dedicated to my wedding and portrait work, while andypauquette.wordpress.com will be where you will find live music images, photography news and the like. Older posts have been moved to the new blog where appropriate. Please check them both out! I’ve run across an interesting series of articles on the BBC News website about a couple and their battles with their photographer. The comments are particularly fascinating, with recently and not so recently married couples sharing their wedding photographer experiences, good and bad! BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | How hard is it to photograph a wedding?. As I’m getting ready to head to Michigan for Angel and Ryan’s wedding, I’ve been getting inspired by the images and thoughts of Britian’s Jeff Ascough, one of the world’s premier wedding photojournalists. I was inspired to pursue wedding photography after seeing the work of Atlanta based celeb photographer Denis Reggie, so it is so refreshing to see that true documentary wedding photography is still appreciated. |
